What is VoIP?
Plainly answered, VOIP is Voice over Internet Protocol.  This describes a technology where voice travels over a broadband internet connection rather than a traditional phone line.  Follow the link below to the Federal Government’s (FCC) information on VoIP technology or to see more frequently asked questions about VoIP.

Should I upgrade to IP (VoIP) technology?
This is a very common question and we get calls all the time to upgrade a system to IP or VOIP (Voice over IP) technology.  Do you need  it?  Will it provide the return on investment you are looking for?

These are just the beginning questions we will help you answer before you take this step.  As always we recommend sorting through these questions with a Morgan Birge & Associates professional who not only understands telecom technology, but one who also cares about your business. We would be happy to take your call or email and answer any questions you may have. Listed below are some common guidelines to help you with the decision.

  • If you want the most current technology with the most features that you know will be around in the future, then a VoIP system is the only choice. Contact us now to discuss your new VoIP system.
  • If you want all of the newest features, but aren’t ready to spend the money on a completely new system or new phones, then a Hybrid of your traditional system is your best bet.  Contact us now to discuss a hybrid phone system solution.
  • If you currently have very limited phone needs and you use the phone in a utilitarian way only, then you probably don’t need to spend the money on an IP phone system just yet.  We say just yet because eventually we foresee all phone systems utilizing this technology.  In fact sales of new IP phone systems are already greater than Traditional digital systems.  That being said, they are not absolutely necessary in many businesses and we can often provide you with many of the same features you are looking for in a VoIP system by more cost effective solutions for businesses.
